Job Description

 

What we’re looking for:

Farm Progress is seeking a Digital Editor to lead audience engagement focused on equipment and technology to satisfy reader interest for all Farm Progress brands on our omnichannel platforms (print, digital, events). The ideal candidate will be someone who has experience creating content in multiple formats, including print journalism, digital storytelling, video, audio and still images. This person is savvy in social media strategy and has a strong social media following. This person is proficient in operating digital video cameras and related production equipment to capture high-quality video footage as needed. This person has a strong writing background and a curiosity about technology and on-farm technology adoption, including precision agriculture, data, drones, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Role Accountability and Duties:

  • Enhance and maintain Farm Progress’ reputation as a trusted leading source of useful information for U.S. farm owner/operators.
  • Create editorial content related to agricultural technology, new/used equipment, equipment management on farms, and related topics driven by feedback from editorial staff and Farm Progress data. You will use proprietary Farm Progress demographic, survey, and readership profile data to enhance content deliverables and consumption.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to plan, ideate and resource print, digital and video projects.
  • Manage multiple teams and projects, ensuring projects are completed within agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Produce digital video, including motion graphics, animation, graphic design, live streaming, sound design, and post-production.
  • Follow standard editing procedures and Farm Progress established style.
  • Travel nationwide to conduct interviews and gather material for content at farms, events, new product roll outs, or other related assignments, as needed, approximately 25% – 30%.

 

Qualifications

 

What you bring to the team:

  • A Bachelors degree in Journalism or digital communications
  • Experience in agriculture (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Savvy in social media strategy; Active and engaging on social media
  • Experience in creating equipment and technology content in multiple formats
  • Experience in producing print, digital, and video content
  • Ability to incorporate data to create insights and action in daily workflows
  • SEO experience
  • Savvy in social media strategy; strong social media following
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills

Additional Information

 

The salary range for this role is 58000 – 73200 USD depending on experience.
