Department Overview

PG&E’s Underground Regional Delivery organization is working to reduce wildfire risk each day as we underground 10,000 miles of distribution lines. We are responsible for working across all internal teams and engaging external stakeholders to support successfully meeting our goals and reducing wildfire risk in our hometowns. Position Summary

The Civil Delivery and Innovation leadership manages teams directly or indirectly involved in system hardening of the service territory distribution grid. Supervisors may oversee teams working on projects throughout the services territory. The Construction Supervisor is responsible for the safety and reliability of electric civil construction, while maintaining compliance with the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) General Orders and all safety and regulatory requirements. The leaders fully implement safety best practices and manage employee’s accountability. Leaders must ensure full compliance with the Injury & Illness Prevention Program.

  • This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be in Stockton,CA.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

CA Minimum: $126,000

CA Maximum: $200,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversees operational activities to ensure safe, efficient, and effective execution of work to meet business priorities.
  • Positively impacts and supports the increased presence of Construction Managers and Inspectors overseeing projects in the field.
  • Ensures readiness of work and implements batching strategies to maximize efficiency.
  • Regularly visits work sites (minimum 20% of time) and meets with project stakeholders to monitor progress and employee performance.
  • Collaboration and administration of construction managers and bargaining unit inspection employees in accordance with the current labor contract agreement.
  • Close collaboration with inspection and project management team members.
  • Serves as lead for special assignments including process improvement and technology implementation.
  • Serves as lead for Fleet/Yard/Tools/Materials coordination. Works closely with supporting LOB’s to ensure prudent use of budget for tools, equipment, and rentals. Ensures availability to support construction activities.
  • Identifies and pursues productivity improvements and implements work practices to reduce operating costs while meeting corporate and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Reviews operational gaps and provides feedback to appropriate parties (e.g. Estimating, Sourcing, Engineering Standards).
  • Develops and executes action plans to improve employee knowledge and skills. Ensures all training and audit corrective actions are completed on time.
  • Responds to emails/data requests and re-directs requests to other department owners as appropriate.
  • Supervises staff, including bargaining unit employees, to accomplish results through recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, field maintenance operations, or related electric utility experience
  • Must obtain a California Driver’s License by first day of employment
  • Travels at least 10% – 50% of time with occasional overnight stays
  • Must be able to travel and work a flexible schedule, including being on call as well as responding to emergencies that may occur throughout our service territory
  • May work outside in remote areas, steep and/or uneven terrain, and inclement weather conditions.

Desired:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field
  • Knowledge of the appropriate California Public Utility Commission General Orders (GO) 95, 128, 165, 174.Previous experience in the electric utility industry
  • Project management skills. T-300 Supervisors must have strong project management skills to oversee larger construction projects.
  • General computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Customer services orientation, including communication skills, initiative and problem solving.
  • Knowledge of various bargaining unit contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold safety standards and participate in continuous process improvement
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and/or supervising bargaining unit personnel
  • Ability to influence a team to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced dynamic environment
  • Experience using business metrics to motivate and influence performance
  • Extensive leadership skills including developing and conducting presentations to employees and management
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Five or more years of experience with the installation of underground utilities such as water, sewer, storm drain, electric, gas, phone lines, etc.
