As a Platform Engineer at Kohl’s we apply software engineering principles to foundational infrastructure systems with the goal of making these systems as robust and as easy to use as possible for our development teams across Kohl’s. Whether it’s building APIs, infrastructure-as-code, or developer tools, we build products that enable our development teams across Kohl’s to move fast and deliver business value. We crush our work as a team with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers while grounding ourselves with data and feedback. We relentlessly code, test, deploy, operate, and improve our products until they achieve our desired outcomes and are a pleasure to use.
Responsible for:
• Engineering, extending, and supporting the virtual infrastructure within Kohl’s clouds to enable our development teams to move their applications to production quickly and efficiently.
• Practicing and advocating for infrastructure engineering best practices like GitOps and overall infrastructure-as-code driving code quality and overall reliability.
• Investing in infrastructure modernization and identifying strategies to reduce TOIL from legacy systems in support of increasing product velocity.
• Partnering with the product manager and building relationships with internal customers to deliver new features & functionality to the existing product.
• Support Kohls datacenter modernization strategy which includes public & private cloud adoption & enablement.
Requires:
• Experience with Ansible, Python, and/or Powershell
• Experience with tools such as Jenkins and Gitlab
• Experience with public cloud: Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and/or Amazon Web Services
• Experience configuring & supporting VMware virtual infrastructure
• Experience with hyper-converged infrastructure, EMC VxRail and/or Nutanix
• Knowledge building development practices like CI/CD, test automation and cloud deployments
• Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and complex problems
• 3+ years of relevant work experience
• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
