St. Edward’s University, a nationally ranked, independent Catholic university and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position as an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science, beginning August 2024. The successful candidate should demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate instruction, with an emphasis on cybersecurity-related subjects, and in joining efforts for the development of a cybersecurity program within the Computer Science Department. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to direct a variety of independent undergraduate projects.

For consideration, candidates should possess or expect to earn before August 2024 a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field, with preference for candidates who can teach a diverse range of undergraduate courses, with an emphasis on cybersecurity-related subjects. Essential Responsibilities Include: Candidates should have the interest and ability or potential to teach a range of undergraduate courses and support a diverse student body.

  • Teach a typical load of three courses per semester and work with students in various undergraduate projects
  • Design and teach a range of computer science undergraduate courses with a focus on cybersecurity courses including but not limited to intrusion detection, incident response and handling, cyber defense, and penetration testing
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and develop a new cybersecurity program within the Computer Science department and share best practices in cybersecurity education
  • Engage in scholarly activity at a level appropriate for undergraduate institutions; academic advising; and service to the university, school, and department
