Job Description:
Madison College is hiring a part-time, Academic Engagement Partner to offer comprehensive tutoring services, both in-person and online, to students seeking additional assistance with essential concepts, homework, or exams in credit level courses. By collaborating with students on their coursework, instilling confidence, promoting effective study techniques, and fostering crucial life skills for learning. Academic Engagement Partner plays a vital role in enhancing retention rates and academic achievements. Additionally, they collaborate with faculty members to develop targeted curriculum activities and aid in course planning.
This is a part-time, typically four (4) hours a day position averaging 20 hours per week for 42 weeks. Work schedule is flexible Monday Thursday 7:30am 7:00pm, Fridays and Saturdays 9:00am – 3:00pm and remote Sundays 9:00am 3:00pm.
This hybrid position will typically be two (2) days per week in person and two (2) days remote (one (1) day remote tutoring and one (1) day remote office time). In-Person shifts will be at Goodman South & Truax Campuses based on student needs. Hybrid work, per the current College Remote Work policy, is subject to change.
Certification level One (1) by National College Learning Center Association Leadership Certification must be achieved or completed on the job before tutoring can begin.

Responsibilities:
Engage with Students in-person or online in tutoring appointments
- Identify stumbling blocks in the student learning process and direct student to most appropriate options and strategies to maximize success.
- Motivate and encourage learners through individual and group engagement experiences
- Adapt to individual student learning styles and guide students using suitable approaches and techniques.
- Encourage academic integrity in learning.
Create support materials, collect and analyze data
- Collect data and records needed for program/department/grant reporting and assessment.
- Create and facilitate supplemental learning activities, objects and workshops in support of student success, such as videos. Assess and analyze results for continuous improvement.
- Provide subject support to students for programs as offered throughout the district.
Promote and Support Student Achievement Center
- Participate in and initiate marketing of the Student Achievement Center.
- Continuing education and professional development in learning center concepts, trends, etc.
- Attend and represent the Student Achievement Center at professional conferences and events.
Support Students with Additional Services Related to Tutoring
- Inform students of traditional and online resources and services that can supplement or enhance learning
- Develop content and curriculum to conduct one to one tutoring as needed.
- Conduct individual and small group study sessions on topics that correlate with classroom studies.
Provide Mentoring and Training to other tutors and staff
- Assist in the development and presentation of training programs for peer tutors, support staff, instructors, student workers.
- Acting as a resource, assist in mentoring and supporting peer tutors.
Collaborate with others in the College
- Collaborate with faculty to understand curriculum changes and needs. Liase with departments and/or programs as required.
- Serve on Libraries and Academic Support Services Continuous Quality Improvement teams, and work with Librarians and student computer help in ensuring student success.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of academic, personal and career pedagogies and understanding of student learning styles and tutoring strategies
- Capacity to plan and organize work responsibilities in an effective and timely manner to meet the needs of students.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members in an ever-changing demanding environment.
- General knowledge and use of academic technologies, devices and formats.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in health sciences, nursing, chemistry, anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology and Mathematics
- Two (2) years of academic support in higher education, tutoring experience in higher education and working with diverse populations.
- National College Learning Center Association Leadership Certification at any level
